The two people who died after a 27-foot boat capsized in the Hudson River on Tuesday were identified by the police early Wednesday as Lindelia Vasquez, 47, and Julian Vasquez, 7.
The police said both victims were Colombian, and did not immediately say whether they were related.
Three other people — a 32-year-old woman, a 51-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man — were hospitalized after the boat capsized, just north of Pier 79 in Midtown Manhattan. They were transported to Mount Sinai West in stable condition.
There were a total of 13 people on the boat at the time of the incident, the police said. The cause of the capsizing is still under investigation.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
