Pavel defeated populist billionaire Andrej Babiš in a runoff vote on Saturday in an expected landslide victory.

After fake text messages sent out on behalf of Pavel's team, now the presidential candidate had to take to social media to assure the public he's still alive.

Babiš, who is facing former general Petr Pavel in a presidential election run-off next weekend, said on Sunday he would not send troops to Poland or the Baltics in case of Russian invasion.

Petr Pavel, a retired army general and presidential candidate, has been facing attacks from the opposition.

It has been widely reported that the victory was only by about half a per cent of votes.
