A newborn baby has been killed after an overnight rocket attack hit a hospital maternity ward in southern Ukraine.
The baby’s mother, who was giving birth at the time of the strike, and the doctor helping her were pulled out alive from the rubble.
They were the only ones there according to reports.
The attack appears to have completely obliterated the small maternity hospital.
The tragedy happened close to the city of Zaporizhzhia at Vilniansk.
The region’s governor Oleksandr Starukh, said the rockets were Russian, and in a telegram message he said that “grief overwhelms our hearts.”
The area has been in the firing line from the outset as the nuclear power plant has been a target in the region.
